Put your new website on your domain at SITE123
About 10 minutes. You change three settings at SITE123. Your domain stays where it is and your email keeps working. Your panel checks each setting for you as you make it.
You need two things: the email and password you use to sign in to SITE123, and your site's address from the Domain tab of your panel. Your domain stays where it is, and your email keeps working.
The three settings
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
| CNAME | www | your site's address — copy it from the Domain tab of your panel |
| A | @ | 137.66.50.77 |
| TXT | _fly-ownership | app-z3wz053 |
@ means the domain itself; some screens call it the "host" or leave it blank. Leave every other setting exactly as it is: your email depends on them.
Step by step
Sign in to SITE123
Go to site123.com and click Login at the top. Sign in the way you always do for your SITE123 website. Your website Dashboard opens.
Open your Domains page
Click the squares icon at the top corner of your dashboard. A menu opens on the side: click Domains, then All Domains. You see a list with your domain in it.
Open the DNS settings
Next to your domain, click the blue Manage button. A short menu opens: click DNS. A window called DNS opens, with your domain's settings in a list: Name, Type, IP - Data.
Leave the buttons Set Default DNS and Set Google Workspace MX Records alone: you do not need them.Change the www setting
Scroll down to the line whose Name starts with www and whose Type is CNAME (it may show as CN...). Click the grey Edit button on that line. Delete the address in the box below the name, and paste your site's address from the Domain tab of your panel. Click the green Save.
Change the A setting
Go up to the line whose Name is your domain itself (no www in front) and whose Type is A. Click Edit. In the IP address box, delete what is there and paste the A address from the table above. Click Save. If there is a second A line for your domain itself, click Delete on it, so only yours is left.
Add the TXT setting
SITE123 has no place for an AAAA setting, so you add one TXT line instead: it does the same job. At the top of the DNS window, click Add a New Record. Under Select Record Type, choose TXT. Under Name, type _fly-ownership (with the line at the start). In the box below it, copy and paste the TXT value from the table above. Click Save. Leave the TXT line that was already there exactly as it is.
Check it in your panel
Open the Domain tab in your panel and click Check my settings again. Each setting says done once the internet sees it, often within an hour. SITE123 says a change can take up to 72 hours to reach everyone. We email you the moment your new site shows on your domain.
Good to know
Do not click Set Default DNS. It puts SITE123's own settings back, and that brings your old SITE123 website back on your domain.
Do not change the Name Servers (in the Manage menu), any line of type MX, or the TXT line that was there before. Those carry your email, including a SITE123 mailbox if you have one.
If SITE123 does not accept _fly-ownership as a name, or you cannot find a line from these steps, stop and ask in your panel's Help tab. We sort it out with you.
Your old SITE123 website stops showing on your domain once the settings change. Thinking of cancelling your SITE123 plan? Ask in your panel's Help tab first, so your domain and email are not caught up in it.
Stuck, or not sure?
Open the Help tab in your panel and write what you see, in your own words. We answer within minutes and walk you through it.
Changed your mind? Your panel keeps today's settings. Put them back at SITE123 and your old website returns, usually within an hour. If you turned off a forwarding or a connection on the way, turn it back on too.
